Microsoft Edge follows the modern policy. Feature updates are released on a cycle of approximately six weeks. For servicing guidelines go here.
Support for the legacy version of the Microsoft Edge desktop app ends March 9, 2021. This means that Microsoft Edge Legacy will not receive a security update after that date. Go here to learn more .

What is the life cycle policy for Internet Explorer?
Microsoft recommends using Microsoft Edge as your default browser and supports Internet Explorer 11 for backward compatibility. For a list of Microsoft Edge supported operating systems go here.
Internet Explorer is a component of the Windows operating system and follows the life cycle policy for the product on which it is installed. For customers running an older version of Internet Explorer, we recommend customers migrate to the latest version of Edge.

Starting January 12, 2016, only the most current version of Internet Explorer available for supported operating systems receives technical support and security updates. Products whose lifecycle ended on or before January 12, 2016, were not affected and are therefore not represented in the table below:
